Gas .vs. Charcoal BBQ’s

Summer nights are drawing closer and you start looking forward to digging the old barbecue out of the shed, dusting it down and cooking that first sausage. But then to your horror, you discover your prehistoric excuse for a barbeque, nestled at the back of your shed.  You start to consider purchasing a newer model.  As you start to look you are shocked at the plethora of product that now exists. When you bought your old bbq there was only the basic ranges that existed, today there is the choice of charcoal bbqs, with or without volcanic rock, gas barbecues and much more. Where do you start? What is the best choice?

You decide you definitely need to buy a new barbeque and that it is a good idea to be well informed about what you are about to buy. First things first do you go for a charcoal bbq or do you chose one of the gas barbeques?  Charcoal barbecues appear to be cheaper which is always a good place to start, but are they the best value for money?  Having to clean them out and purchase new charcoal and lighter fluid every time you want to use your bbq can become tiresome. However, some would say it is worth it for that authentic old fashion smoky bbq taste you get from using a proper charcoal bbq.

The cooking area of a gas bbq is generally larger than a charcoal barbeque which means more room for those extra burgers when surprise guests turn up.  Gas bbqs are good in the sense that they are so easy to use, one simple press of a button and your up and running, five minutes later you have a regulated even heat ready to cook a beautiful piece of chicken that you feel confident will be evenly cooked giving you no worry of pinks bits.  Gas barbeques seem to start where charcoal bbqs end.  A charcoal barbeque is ideal for those who aren’t sure if they will use their bbq very often, but, want one just in case.  Also, for those that enjoy going camping or caravanning at the weekends a charcoal bbq is ideal as there are some great portable models to choose from and can be easily flung in the back of the car.  For those budding chefs out there, the party people, those that like to impress and people who just like the easy life a gas bbq is the best choice, slightly more costly to start with but the benefits soon speak for themselves. If you look around there are some fantastic deals out there tailored for your taste.
