Tips for Buying a Garden Summerhouse
Today you have a number of different styles of summerhouses which come in kit form and which can be erected in your garden. You can either choose to employ a contractor to erect it for you or if you want to save money, you can erect it yourself. But although you may well see a summerhouse, you like but there are a number of different things that the manufacturer of these kits will often forget about when making them.
Therefore, when you are selecting the right kit you need to take a number of different factors into consideration before you make your purchase. Below we take a look at just what these factors are.
1. Location - It is best that you choose a location in your garden into which the summerhouse will sit comfortably. It is best that you place it in a space that is large enough not only to accommodate the building but where you will be able to easily and safely work on the building as you erect it. Also you need enough space around the site that when working on any kind of equipment such as ladders you will not be restricted with regard to getting proper access to the area where you want to work.
2. Your Neighbours - If you are going to be placing the building close to a boundary fence then will you require access via your neighbours garden in order to do so. If you do then it is advisable that you discuss with them first what you are intending to do and whether they will allow you the permission to gain access through their garden in order to erect it.
3. Roof Height - When you have chosen the site for your summerhouse, you need to remember to take into consideration the height of the building. If you have any trees, which are close to the site, then you may need to consider cutting these back. Because if you don't you may find yourself in a situation having to spend more money and time on making repairs to the roof of the building because the trees branches have damaged it.
4. Summerhouse Base - As soon as you have chosen the right location for your summerhouse you need to arrange to have a sound, foundation laid on to which it can be erected. The best kind of base for any building that you are going to erect in your garden is a concrete one; simply it provides a solid foundation on to which the frame of the building can be attached to.
5. Erection - When erecting your summerhouse it is important that you follow the instructions provided with the kit by the manufacturer to the letter. Ideally, before you actually start to install the frame for the doors look at putting on the planks that make up the walls to a height of around 18 inches. Then before you actually fit, the doors then ensure that the planks on the walls come up to a height that is in line with your waist or slightly higher.
If you remember to keep the above tips in mind then you should find not just choosing but erecting the right summerhouse for your garden a whole lot easier. Also, you will need to clarify with your local building authority if any permits are required, as certain building including summerhouses, which are above 100 sq ft, will need such things before they can actually be erected.
