Is an Instrumental Acoustic Guitar Right for You?
The popularity of acoustic guitars over electric is largely due to the mystique and romance associated with them. The soft strumming of an instrumental acoustic guitar can cause people to stop what they are doing and just listen to the beautiful music. But, the instrumental acoustic guitar is not just for mellow music. For instance, it brings fiery passion to flamenco music. Though people do not often think or talk about the versatility of an acoustic guitar, nearly everyone appreciates the beautiful sounds it is capable of producing.
Do you ever wish you knew how to play the guitar? Does walking past one in the store window make you long to walk inside, pick it up, put one hand lovingly around the neck and caress the strings gently with the other, and begin playing a tune? Have you ever thought about how expensive it would be to take lessons? Or how difficult it would be to learn?
Think about your family and friends, and the looks on their faces as you bring your guitar out, as you display to them your newly acquired skill. As you put the guitar back in the case, do you ever think to yourself how great it would be if you only had time in your schedule to learn?
Instrumental acoustic guitars may seem magical, but, of course there isn't really any magic in the instruments themselves. It's their music that enchants you. It's just like when you learned to write during childhood. After a while you mastered it and finally you could take on all sorts of writing assignments. The pencil was the implement to express the thoughts, but you were the one who put it to use. It's like that with an acoustic guitar too. It's the implement you use to make music. And you learn to play a guitar in much the same way you learned to write all those years ago. First you just play around with it, like a kind of doodling. You did drills to practice. Eventually the feeling for it in your fingers just takes over. Soon the music is flowing right through your fingers and into the guitar.
To one who has never played the acoustic guitar, it can be very intimidating even though it is a very compelling instrument. The music produced on a guitar can almost seem larger than life. How incredible that anyone could produce such amazing sounds from such a simple instrument.
Some people may feel nervous with an instrumental acoustic guitar and treat it like fragile glass. So much so, that they forget it is an instrument meant to be played. The music resides within you and is only heard when you actually play the guitar.
Whether you frequently check out any available instrumental acoustic guitar in the music store just to get the feel of it, or if you have one standing silent in the corner, take the time to learn. You will always be proud that you've spent time mastering the instrument and of the music you will eventually be able to produce.
